Il Mulino della Quercia

The old mill beneath centuries-old oaks

Where grain was once milled, guests now slow down: an ancient stone-and-brick mill, carefully restored, set in Cetona's medieval countryside and watched over by the centuries-old oaks that give the property its name. Inside, terracotta, beams and antique furnishings; outside, the garden, the barbecue and a private pool all to yourselves. Two bedrooms — the second with a sofa bed — and one bathroom: the quintessential romantic escape, with room for four, minutes from the village.

The village

Cetona climbs in concentric circles around its fortress, at the foot of the wooded mountain that shares its name. Its grand piazza, stone-paved lanes and wisteria-draped walls make it one of southern Tuscany’s most beloved villages — and a perfect base for the Val d’Orcia, the thermal springs of San Casciano dei Bagni, and the art cities of Siena and Orvieto.
